URGENT: ESS WDA application not opening in New Window

Hi Experts,

I am facing issues in ESS WDA application opening in new window and getting " Service Not reachable" screen. I checked all the SICF and Webdynpro service is already active.

Version: Portal 7.3 / ECC 6 EHP 6

Then I find that in Launchpad that in portal parameters the EXT_HEAD entry is by default so I tried to play with in and made it INPLACE then the application works fine. Now this is just a workaround and we don't want this application to be opened within the portal window.

Kindly suggest how this can be fixed as we are facing issues with many application,
