- I consider this is a very good question from your side.
- I am replying to your initial post. I do not know whether there is any need of going into technicals or studying Business functions for the point you've raised. It is a simple case where IW28 program calls IW31 when you click on the Order create icon. You Expect it to call IW81 because it is a Refurbishment Notification type.
- The information message you are getting is not stopping you at all, it is exhibiting the same behavior which you'd experience when you attempt to create a Refurbishment Order through IW31. And you can create a Refurbishment Order through IW31. Only difference is you need to enter whole data.
- Your observation is a standard behavior of IW28, where you will not get the advantage of creating Orders for other Notification types. This I'm afraid you can not change
- The reason why the standard behavior is like this can be manifold. It can be a lapse from SAP in which case they correct it through Notes. But, in this case I could not find such note. It can be due to technical constraints while writing the IW28 program.
- You can reports an SAP incident in OSS and see what they reply.
- Also you can go for an ABAP program, which can be developed with ease by an experience ABAPer.
